Description
Auction of cataloged items closes Tuesday May 28, 2024 as advertised with the cataloged items only. There was confusion due to the LARGE AMOUNT of parts, cars, tools at the location that are being cataloged for a future auction this summer. Auction Day Preview 10:10 to 12:01 PM Soft close bidding begins closing 12:12 PM Removal is Wednesday, Thursday & Friday. Don Frietwell undisputed legend in the Rat Rod world for building, designing, creating parts, molds, bucks, basically anything and everything he needed to pursue his dreams. The man was a legend for his work, yet very secretive, he was hard to get him to even work for you unless the project and price suited him. I was fortunate enough to meet the man, the myth, the legend in 2014 when we sold the 'abandoned' remnants from BMW of Santa Cruz for the same property owners he was located in a few doors down the road. Don Frietwell passed over to the other side a few years ago leaving behind his secretive warehouse filled with thousands of parts, several 4 to 8 complete incomplete 'basket case' cars. Heck we discovered what appears to be most of a Model A truck located underneath a chicken coop behind the building. There are 4 tractor trailers loaded with an increddible stash including a 1936 Packard Woodie Wagon in one, lots of engines, parts to be cataloged. Another trailer had a least one basket case dissasembled rat rod, wheels, body, engine, transmission, pre-1940 parts everytwhere. The Auctionarium has been sorting, catalogging, photographing, inventorying this incredible stash of parts for over a year. We came to a roadblock when there was simply no more room to spread out & sort or to store the items once they are cataloged. This problem has been solved by adding more warehouses space that became available and filling it with rented pallet racks. This is the largest, most incredible stash of mostly original RAT ROD the bulk being pre-1940 auto parts. Frames, fenders, doors, lots of lights omfg original glass & plastic light gels, frames, crome body parts, wheels from wood spoke to custom rims, most old original, condition from mint or near mint to thrashed, most have been in the good rating or above. Electric parts, guages, coils, batteries, lights, spotlights, engine electric parts many NOS in original packaging. Parts of every type & style from Ford to Bugatti. Don Frietwell was secretive and did not let people into his shop /warehouse that he lived above in a small apartment. When he could not find a part he would manufacture his own, there are 'bucks' used to form sheet metal parts, fenders, hoods, doors, etc along with his personal drawings & schematics. The auction will contain all of his tools, machine tools, Frame Jigs, brakes, vices, drill presses, milling machines, a complete catalog with pictures and descriptions will be available for online bidding. Collectible items, signs, clocks hundreds to thousands of magazines, periodicals, shop manuals, advertising items, everythign being sorted, cataloged and broken into logical auction lots.
